Product: Add compact desktop view.
I would love to have a small desktop view, like what the Mac Reminders.app looks like. I would like to have a small, compact view so that I can leave it running in the corner of my display or something. Add the choice to display “All” on it, or by category, so I can have multiple categories on separate compact windows.

Completely agree. In fact having this compact view will likely make the app much more useable, ever present for users, and overall increase engagement of Any.do due to continuous visibility.

Yes, the UI of the web app is way too fat. On my 12.5'' screen, I have to scroll horizontally to see all four columns (even without the list drawer), and can only see 5-6 tasks per column...
This makes the UI really unusable (drag and drop).

the size of each task of web version is SO BIG. this is really annoying when you have lots of tasks and you can only see 4 or 5 tasks at a time. the ui size of anydo web version is just TOO BIG.

i agree. each takes takes up too much white space in the the desktop view.. it is good to have a compact view so that we can see a lot more tasks in the same screen without having to scroll down.
you could also play with having a 2 column view while compacting, rather than having only one column with lots of white space wasted on the right. -

Making it look like a list like the iPhone app would also be nice.

The current app for the mac desktop takes up a lot of space. This is not convenient for smaller screen sizes, especially laptops.
Consider the following:
1. Compact view of the tasks (you could use the chrome extension as a base UI styleguide)
2. Run under the menubar (look at Fantastical as an example)
3. Allow quick entry of tasks (hotkey)Any.do is truly a fantastic app. The only gap is the UI on the desktop that needs to accommodate laptop screen sizes.
