    You have left! (?) (thinking…)
How important is this to you?

Completely agree. In fact having this compact view will likely make the app much more useable, ever present for users, and overall increase engagement of Any.do due to continuous visibility.

The current app for the mac desktop takes up a lot of space. This is not convenient for smaller screen sizes, especially laptops.

    Consider the following:
    1. Compact view of the tasks (you could use the chrome extension as a base UI styleguide)
    2. Run under the menubar (look at Fantastical as an example)
    3. Allow quick entry of tasks (hotkey)

Any.do is truly a fantastic app. The only gap is the UI on the desktop that needs to accommodate laptop screen sizes.
