Product: Convert tasks to events and vice versa
It would be great if there was an option to convert tasks into appointments, and vice versa. This would allow users to easily create new appointments out of tasks or to reduce an appointment into a task.

Taskito does this in the Android app and they are developing a web app to do the same functionality. I really think Any.Do can provide this needed feature. There is a world of difference when you can see the tasks you need to do on the calendar and convert them to events and move them back to the task list. It's rewarding to see what you got done looking at the calendar at the end of the day.

This is very important, currently I need to look at any.do and google's calendar to know what I have to do.
If events appear as tasks, I will be able to follow only any.do -

Any updates on this idea? Love this and love many of the comments as well. Tasks becoming blocks of time on my calendar would be very helpful in blocking my day to get the actual tasks done!

I'd still love to have this. Syncing of only events and not tasks is really awkward

I use calengoo because it allows users to convert tasks into events on a Google calendar, and vica versa. If any.do had that feature, I would ditch calengoo in favour of any.do

Basically just add ability to add duration for the task, and view them on a calendar - like Google calendar does it right now. This way I can better schedule my day

I would like to be able to convert an event (imported from an existing calendar) into a task ... that or be able to "complete " or "check" an event once its completed / finished

To have an option to transform one task to an event-- Those who use Cal Newport's method will understand why

Adding a special Melody for Any.do notifications so I can know it's my reminder, or not just another app notification

A slight refinement is to allow drag and drop from task to event with default setting of busy so time-blocking can occur. Also allow setting to either change from task to event OR duplicate as event. This is a standard practice for many time management, that is the habit of grouping tasks into a time block based on merely time or location or another context. For now, just worry about time. It is also key to Agile methodologies when standups look to that backlog (some in your tasks for the day) and look to time-box the activity, if it's self contained, or at least time-box the next step and break it up into multiple steps. That might mean allowing easy adjustment of time commitment, e.g. 1 hour, 2 hour, 3 hour, etc. by dragging a cursor on the size of the box (not unlike Google Calendar today). Finally, allowing the reverse might also be nice if you unable to do the task in the time-box allotted and have thus reprioritized for another day, but aren't sure which day yet.

Let's say I have a task, "set up a meeting with my client" - After the call, naturally, after this task there will be an event which is "a meeting with my client."
So after the task is done, It is easy to take the data from the task and put it in an event. -

This is most necessary. Sometimes tasks turns to be an appointment and when it is converted to an event, it syncs with Google calendar, and that also means sync to desktop/browser. Otherwise the experience on PC will never be good

Agree wholeheartedly. Moving a task into a schedule block of time allows users to better map their days and increase productivity. Conversely it allows users to see when they've potentially over committed to tasks for the day and re-allocate time accordingly
Here is an example workflow...
- User assigned 5 tasks for the day
- User opens task and clicks “create an event”
- I also think this is what the current "Plan My Day" function should allow. Here are all the things I want to get done (task list), and this is when I will get them done (tasks created into events)
- System pre-populates event data from respective fields in the task. Date defaults to current day. User can modify date. Start time defaults to current. User can modify time.
- User completes tasks throughout the day, marking them complete throughout
- User experiences an unexpected time request and is unable to complete the final two tasks of the day
- User can modify due for the task if desired, otherwise task it is denoted as Overdue
- User can modify calendar event if new time is known or wait and create an event again from the taskThoughts?

For years I have used my calendar as a task organizer. When I heard that Any.do syncs with my calendar I was excited until I synced my calendar. That is when I discovered that all my "tasks" in my calendar are still locked in my calendar and to get them into Any.do I have to manually add them. I would like to see a feature where I can choose whether or not to treat my current calendar events as events or tasks when I sync.
