Tracking and Reports: Completion time estimation
Add the ability to estimate the amount of time each task will take to complete.

A great idea contributed in 2016... In 2024, it is still critical to have this, if not a complete automatic calculation... at least the option to be able to "turn on and off" the time tracking and have it synced between devices. As a freelance designer I have always used "focus-todo" especially because I have very changing schedules, it is a very critical option.
Currently you can share a board with clients and have tasks with subtasks inside to see the progress. The only thing missing is "time spent on each task"
An additional thing could be to have analytics in the main account to be able to easily survey the time spent on different "boards" or "tasks" (in my case, which correspond to clients).

This is what's missing! See Android apps RoutineFlow and neurolist. Each task and subtask is assigned an approximate completion time, and the focus timer is based on that, plus it times you for each subtask. Whereas Any.do you can't even see subtasks in focus mode. Being able to see estimated completion time makes it so much easier to plan tasks for the day!! And as someone with ADHD who relies on checklists, I love how those apps approach the timer. Any.do is halfway there already, just need a few tweaks.

This is very good suggestion..
Especially in to do list apps the biggest drawback is we can't asesss time taken to do all the task mentioned in a day and this option will help to ***** total time available and te taken to do all the activities available in a day..
This is real help..

I would love a feature like this. Don't want to bloat my google calendar with events

Thanks for sharing this idea. I extended further on this idea & suggested this feature - https://anydo.uservoice.com/forums/143587-general/suggestions/44946961-product-task-dependencies-with-duration-gantt-d

It is a very productive idea. May I know why any.do is unable to implement it?

There shoud be some default time-tags related: (5 min, 10 min, 1 hour). Therfore when you add a tag to a task, the calendar should block that amount of time after the time scheduled for the reminder.
Conecting this to a countdown or to the promodoro functionality it would be awesome

Each Task has should have an option to mention task duration... And secondly Auto total of today task duration has to be mentoned..
Example:
Today
Call A - 5 min
Task B - 60 min
Task C - 90 min
Total - 135 min. ( Auto calculate)By this activity, i can identify if i have 3 hours ( 180 min) available with me today.. so that i can accomodate this 135 min easily

I would really like a project tracking feature.
As a freelance visual artist, it’s important for me to keep track of how much time I spend on a specific project.
It would be great to have this as a sub list with a timer function in the specific list. Something similar with the focus mode and the time tracker that I see suggested here, with a timer and the option to keep the time you actually spent. For example:
List: Work
Project: Illustration project 1
Mon: 30 min
Tue: 120 min
Fri: 90 minSo at the end of the project I can easy calculate how much time I spent on this particular project. Partly to be able to price it correctly and partly to know so when I want to schedule next project I can time estimate better because I know exactly how long the last project actually took.
Time tracker apps that already exist (didn't try them, just searched on app-store):
Daily simple time tracker
Toggl track hours and timeWould be amazing to have all in any.do!

Yes this would be so useful. Asana/Click Up call this "time estimate". On asana when you select multiple tasks it displays at the bottoms the total time estimate for those tasks - it would be so useful! I am always too ambitious with my days, so it would help me realise what I've planned is not achievable. It also focuses my mind - so that if I've set a time estimate of 15 mins then I will really focus on achieving it.
If deployed in a similar way to Asana, I think it could be done without changing the approach to the UI too much.
This is also similar to another post that has over 700 votes

This option will support to plan tasks to be done depending on time I have available.

Wow. This was first suggested 3 years ago in 2016. That's disappointing. Just downloaded this app and really like it but not having a simple field for completion time might be a dealbreaker. Seems like an easy feature to add and would help not having to think about it every time I open the app. Odd that you can plan your calendar but can't allocate time to a task.

Eat the frog principle.. Prioritize which is ugliest frog based on its estimated time and eat it first.
Please add feature to assign estimated time of completion -

Make estimates for tasks could contribute to productivity. And you can more clearly planning your day according to your estimation times. It’s very important part of your efficiency.
